Arden Andersen: Getting the Right Nutrients Determines Your Health

We are living in a time when there is a major focus on our health. And even though there is more information than ever in terms of what makes us healthy, there seem to be fewer of us who are taking this advice. Part of the reason for so many people not getting healthy is that you must devote time to being healthy.

Also, in some cases you have to plan out what you need to do and in others you will need to refrain from certain behaviors that you might have grown accustomed to over time.

Doctors like Arden Andersen advise that you make the time because good health is a preventative for many diseases. The more you do on your own, the less a doctor will have to do to get you back to good health.

Exercise

The main issues regarding good health have been consistent over time. You need to exercise approximately every other day for a period of at least an hour. Exercise should include aerobics type activity where you heart rate is elevated to 85% of its capacity for a period of 30 minutes. You also need to do some resistance types of exercise where there is pressure placed on the major muscle groups for at least twenty minutes.

The goal here is to build muscle and reduce fat. The final important part of exercise is stretching. You need to stretch, the arms, legs, neck, back and hips for at least ten minutes. Muscles and ligaments need to be stretched in order for them to remain limber and to reduce the potential for injuries in everyday life.

Good Nutrition

At the heart of any healthy lifestyle is good nutrition. What you put into your body on a daily basis will determine to great measure how you feel and how healthy you are. Eating right is no secret, there are many approaches but each have the same basic philosophy at its core.

Good nutrition means having a balanced diet which entails making sure you get enough from all of the important food groups: proteins, fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates and fats. This approach gives us the proper nutrients for the proper operating of our bodies. When you eat the right foods in the right proportions, you get the needed amounts of vitamins and minerals to ensure your body gets what it needs to function efficiently.

Watch Your Weight

We also need to avoid overeating and carrying excess weight, because this leads to many bad things including increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer which are the top causes of death in the country.

Cut Out the Junk Food


Perhaps the biggest challenge for anyone trying to have a healthy eating lifestyle today is minimizing and even eliminating heavily processed our foods. These foods are high in sugar, preservatives, and fat content and can wreak havoc on the body.

Consider Supplements

There are a lot of supplements that can aid in your good health if you are not getting proper nutrition through eating your meals. As you age certain vitamins like vitamins D, A, and the minerals Zinc and Potassium and very important. These and many others can be obtained via a good multivitamin. So consider taking one regularly if you are not eating well.

Take a serious approach to keeping yourself in good health and it will pay off in the long run.
